North Simcoe Muskoka has a population of 453,710 (2009), representing 3.5% of Ontario’s population. In 2006, 15.2% were age 65 and over, and 7% were age 75 and over. It is estimated that North Simcoe Muskoka’s population aged 75+ will more than double between now and 2028, rising from 24,910 in 2006 to an estimated 57,804 in 2028.

North Simcoe Muskoka encompasses the District of Muskoka, most of the County of Simcoe and a portion of Grey County. North Simcoe Muskoka is home to four First Nations. Given its location in and around cottage country, North Simcoe Muskoka experiences significant seasonal variation in population and demands for related health services. North Simcoe Muskoka is also an increasingly popular retirement destination.
