Service Description: The purpose of the Alzheimer Society is to ease the personal and social consequences of the disease and other dementias, and to promote the search for a cause and cure.

Caregiver Support groups meet each month to provide educational information, share concerns and discuss issues that affect many caregivers coping with the effects of Alzheimer Disease. Anyone is welcome to attend and no pre-registration is required.

Groups, which are held:
-1st Thursday at 2:00pm at St James Anglican Church, Gravenhurst;
-2nd Thursday at 10:00am at the Bracebridge United Church;
-3rd.Tuesday at 1:30pm at Trinity Anglican Church Parry Sound
-4th Thursday at 2:00pm at Fairvern Nursing Home Huntsville.

Caregivers, people with dementia, friends and others meet for dinner, support, understanding and humour, once ea. month in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Huntsville. Call the office for details on the 'Company of Good Cheer.'

The Society provides educational services including an extensive lending library of books, videos, tapes, articles and fact sheets available at no cost. A staff member can be requested to speak to organizations in the community. There is a Resource Centre for professionals, as well as in-service training. Students can also use the Resource Centre, and there is a public and secondary school education program.
