Service Description: Mission of the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County is to improve the quality of life of persons who are directly affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias * the Society's goals are to provide information, education and public awareness, family and caregiver support, funding for research and advocacy

Provides information, education and support for persons living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, and their care partners

Member of the North Simcoe Muskoka Community Support Services Collaborative and the North Simcoe Muskoka Dementia Network

First LInk program connects people affected by Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia and their care partners to a community of learning, services and support * clients can access supportive counselling, participate in the First Link Learning Series, receive an information package and be referred to other community supports that may be of benefit * 9 Caregiver Support Groups operate monthly throughout the county as well as coffee and luncheon socials

* Medic Alert's Safely Home Registry
* education sessions for staff in health care facilities and agencies
* public awareness presentations
* resource library
* e-newsletter

Special Events and Fundraising Activities
* January is Alzheimer Awareness Month
* Walk for Alzheimer's, May 28, 2017 in Barrie
* Tag Days held annually during the summer throughout the County of Simcoe
* Alzheimer Coffee Break, a nation-wide fundraising and awareness event is held in September each year
