Service Description: Program in which LensCrafters collects used eyeglasses which are recycled and the money generated from recycling is used to make new glasses and sent to people in Third World countries * used eyeglasses can be dropped off at the LensCrafters store in the Georgian Mall throughout the year * financial donations also welcome

Home Town Day: One day per year in December, is designated Home Town Day where glasses are given out to people in financial need in Barrie * individuals may apply through the United Way for a new pair of glasses * applicants need a letter from a sponsoring organization and are selected based on financial need * affiliated doctors donate time to examine recipients, and Associates volunteer time to make and dispense new glasses * frame and lens vendors donate Hometown Day products * call for information about the date for Home Town Day

Throughout the year Lenscrafters works with local organizations to provide glasses to those in need * request must come from the organizations such as Busby Centre, Salvation Army, not from individuals
